Sweden’s Innovation Agency, Vinnova, has approved 38 new projects under the Advanced Digitalisation program. With a funding allocation of SEK 290 million, these projects aim to strengthen the industry’s ability to seize the opportunities offered by digitalisation.
The selected projects address multiple key domains—from AI and XR to radar integration, 6G connectivity, and development in emerging tech.
Needs in focus
The call Industrial Demand-Driven Innovation, which closed in April 2025, included five priority areas:
- AI for industrial applications
- Advanced digital infrastructure
- Flexible energy management for industry
- Human–AI interaction for industrial electrification
- XR for learning and innovation
– “The applications in this call for proposals were consistently of high quality, and it has been a challenging assessment process. This was the first round of a recurring call for proposals, where the focus may differ from time to time depending on the issues identified as most urgent for advanced digitalisation of Swedish industry,” says Staffan Nyström, call manager at Vinnova.
The program aims to accelerate the development of advanced digital solutions, guided by industry needs identified through Advanced Digitalisation’s four advisory boards.
– “We look forward to seeing these projects contribute to strengthening both industry and Sweden’s position. Within Advanced Digitalisation, we are continuing to define industry needs and are preparing upcoming offerings and investment areas” says Nils Hertzberg, program director for Advanced Digitalisation.
